The Aids Centre for Ethiopia is an association Onlus, a relief organization, no profit. It promotes education, welfare work and sanitary assistance to the population of Ethiopia, particularly to the children at risk.

Diana destines 5% of its proceeds on certain products especially marked for the support of this project.

The cruelty, that I was able to notice during my last journey to Ethiopia about the destiny of the children orphans, has shaken my conscience. I want to tell you just 2 examples to better understand. In the poorest region of Guraghe live about 12 millions of people. On both sides of the road their “Tucul” follow one another for hundreds kilometres. At dusk, people retire to their Tucul to protect themselves from the hyenas. It often happens, that these wild animals pushed by the hunger, succeed to break the fences that protect the Tucul. Owing to starvation and diseases everyday children and adults die and when children remain orphans, often nobody can look after them. I wondered about destiny of these children orphans , the uncertainty is alarming and much more worrying is the answer; recently hyenas have lacerated 2 little asses which were used to carry water from the stream to our village of Yeterec but not only animals are killed…. Other sad reality is that of the Welcome State Home in Bahirdar. A so sad place, bare and also deprived of the indispensable, where children survive with difficulties. It’s a dramatic reality and we must intervene ! I suggest to concentrate during this year 2004 , all the efforts of volunteers, of legal adoptive families and of distant adoptive families, of friends of the Aids Centre for Ethiopia and of all people of good will to help the orphans in Bahirdar and in the region of Guracahe. “ Recovering little orphans” will be therefore our priority. The project is to build 2 centres of first reception, endowing each one of a room of about 30 beds, a kitchen and bathrooms and entrust them to persons able to receive and welcome the orphans from both regions. Among people the voice will spread in very few time and, in spite of abandoning small orphans to their destiny, surely people will entrust them to our care and attentions. In order to complete both centres we need about 160.000 Euros….
